Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Wednesday arrived in Tajikistan for an official visit and the ninth prime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Tajik Prime Minister Akil Akilov held a welcoming ceremony for Wen at the airport.

During the visit, the leaders of the two countries would exchange views on bilateral cooperation as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Founded in 2001, the SCO consists of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Mongolia, India, Pakistan and Iran are observers.

Wen flew to Tajikistan after visiting Russia and attending the 15th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian prime ministers.

He arrived in Russia's St. Petersburg on Monday, where he held talks with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and attended the signing ceremony of a dozen of bilateral cooperation agreements.

The Chinese premier also met Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on Wednesday.
