Prime Minister of Hamas' Gaza administration on Thursday said his government is ready to resign after a unity deal was reached with rival Fatah movement.
Ismail Haneya, who spoke in Gaza city, also said that he will not lead the technocratic government to be formed to rule the Gaza Strip and the West Bank according to the agreement brokered by Egypt last week.
"I will hand the government on plate and say the agreement we made must be honestly implemented," Haneya said, referring to the agreement that the factions signed in Cairo Wednesday.
The technocratic government will restore political unity to Gaza and the West Bank for the first time since 2007, when Hamas routed forces of President Mahmoud Abbas, ousted his Fatah movement and took over Gaza by force.
Independent figures would make up the new government, and Hamas and Fatah will agree on the candidates.
