"Sharp Knife 2011" joint training for special forces of China and Indonesia concluded successfully on Friday in Bandung, Indonesia.
Hou Shusen, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People 's Liberation Army (PLA), and Budiman, deputy chief of staff of the Indonesian National Army (TNI-AD), together attended the closing ceremony and press conference after witnessing a joint field exercise.
Hou said that the PLA and the Indonesian National Armed Force ( TNI) had achieved great development in their relationship in recent years, as their pragmatic cooperation in personnel training, equipment and technology, joint training, offshore security and multilateral dialogue was firmly improved.
He said that the two forces learned from each other, made trainings together and exchanged counter-terror skills and tactics through the "Sharp Knife 2011" in a dozen days.
"They had not only obtained good training results but also promoted the mutual understanding and trust between them, as well as consolidated and developed the traditional friendship between the two countries," Hou added.
Budiman said that the armies of China and Indonesia had differences in history, culture, tradition and military thought, but the two countries shared a historical traditional friendship.
"Both sides, through training courses on shooting, helicopter landing, forced entry and hostage rescue, have taken the joint training as a good opportunity to obtain experience and knowledge of military skills and tactics, and to promote the professional skills of officers and soldiers," he said.
"Sharp Knife 2011" joint training, the first one between PLA and TNI, was launched on June 6 in Bandung, aimed at promoting the counter-terrorist actual combat capacity and joint action capacity of the special forces of China and Indonesia, and pushing forward pragmatic exchange and cooperation between PLA and TNI.
