China and Turkmenistan signed 14 agreements including ones on natural gas supply, loans to purchase oil and gas equipment, internal affairs cooperation, police training cooperation, as well as anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism.

With the 20th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations approaching, the visit of Turkmenistan's president to China will promote the continuous healthy and stable development of ties between the two countries, Hu said.

Berdymukhamedov arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day state visit to China. It is the president's third state visit to China since becoming leader of Turkmenistan in 2007.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and top legislator Wu Bangguo will meet with Berdymukhamedov.

Berdymukhamedov will also travel to the southern cities of Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
