Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met here Friday with Speaker of Thailand's House of Representatives Somsak Kiatsuranont, expressing willingness to step up bilateral ties to maintain regional stability.

"We are willing to work together with Thailand to further strengthen communication and coordination...,to jointly deepen the China-Thailand strategic partnership and make greater contribution to regional stability and prosperity," Xi said.

Xi hailed the fruitful bilateral cooperation, saying the two nations have always maintained mutual respect, mutual trust, equality, mutual benefit, and cooperation for win-win results since they established diplomatic relations in 1975.

"China sees Thailand as a close friend and credible partner," Xi said, noting it's an established foreign policy of China to actively develop friendly relations with Thailand.

Xi said exchanges between the two countries' legislatures are a major part of their bilateral relations. The Chinese side highly values its communication and cooperation with Thailand's parliament, Xi said, hoping the two sides will work together to cement their ties.

Somsak, who is also president of the Thai National Assembly, said Thailand attaches great importance to the friendship with China and China's National People's Congress.

Despite constant changes in the situation of the world and Asia, Thailand is willing to intensify cooperation with China in various sectors, expand exchanges between legislatures of the two countries, and enhance coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues, so as to advance the China-Thailand strategic cooperation, said Somsak.
