16 militants killed by security forces in Pakistan

At least 16 militants were killed by security forces in two separate incidents in Pakistan on Wednesday, reported local media.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, security forces killed at least ten militants and wounded six others in a clash that broke out in central part of Kurram Agency, a tribal area that borders Afghanistan.

Local state-run TV channel PTV said three militants' hideouts were also destroyed by the heavy shelling of gunship helicopters in the clashes.

There were no reports about the casualties on the side of the security forces.

Later on Wednesday afternoon, there came another report about the clashes between security forces and militants in Pakistan's southwest Zhob area, which is located some 260 kilometers northeast of Quetta, capital of Balochistan province.

During the clashes, at least six militants were killed, said local TV Ajj, adding that several security personnel were also injured in the incident,

In another development, at least one person was killed and two others were injured on Wednesday in a remote-control bomb attack on a police station in Kashmor, a district in central Pakistan where three provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan border one another.
