Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said in Canberra on Monday he congratulated current leader of the ruling Labor party Julia Gillard on her strong win and he bore no grudges.
He said "I congratulate Julia on her strong win today," "I bare no grudges or malice toward anyone," adding that he will accept fully the verdict of the caucus and support Gillard.
"We must serve the people and not ourselves," he said.
"We as a nation are blessed by the professionalism of foreign affairs department," he added.
Prime Minister Gillard won Labor caucus, beat challenger former Prime Minister and former Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd in a 71:31 caucus ballot for the leadership of the ruling Labor party.
Gillard's strong win would allow her to lead the party to a parliamentary election next year.
