At least six people were killed and seven others injured in a bomb blast Wednesday morning in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency, reported local Urdu TV channel Express.

The bomb attached to the back part of a passenger van carrying an estimated 15 to 20 people from Tirah Valley, a militancy- plagued area in Khyber Agency, exploded on its way to Jamrud, the capital of Khyber Agency.

It is not known how the bomb was detonated.

All the injured have been admitted to hospitals in Peshawar, only 20 kilometers away from Jamrud.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the blast in statements issued shortly after the blast.
