French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Wednesday that France is ready to make joint efforts with China to promote the all-round development of bilateral ties.

During talks with Chinese Ambassador to France Kong Quan, Fabius said that France and China are two influential powers in the world and it is absolutely necessary to further advance their friendly relations and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.

France wants to make joint efforts with China to make bilateral economic and trade relations more smooth and balanced and achieve concrete results in regional cooperation between the two nations, the French foreign minister said.

For his part, Kong said that China attaches great importance to its ties with France and stands ready to create a mature and stable new-style strategic partnership featuring mutual trust and benefit on the basis of equality and respect.

The Chinese ambassador is the first top foreign diplomat Fabius has met since he took office as the French foreign minister.
