Uncertainty remains on Iranian nuclear issue

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Monday said the Iranian nuclear issue is now in a "crucial period," although "great uncertainty" still exists.
Spokesman Hua Chunying made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to a question about the three-day Munich Security Conference, which concluded on Sunday.
"All parties should adhere to seeking diplomatic ways (to solve the issue) while displaying wisdom and accommodating each other's concerns, as well as promote talks to score more progress, in order to create more leeway for a long-term, comprehensive and proper settlement to the Iranian nuclear issue," she said.
Hua said the international community's efforts to push talks forward last year laid a foundation narrowing disparities and expanding consensus on the issue.
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said at the Munich conference that 2013 will be a decisive year for Iran, as elections have been conducted in the U.S. and Israel, while another election is scheduled for June in Iran.
