China wants to share its dream of national rejuvenation with the world and provide positive energy for global peace and prosperity, a high-ranking Chinese official said on Monday.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting of high-level officials from Chinese and European political parties.

"What does the Chinese dream mean to the world? Our answer is that it will bring peace, development, cooperation and more opportunities, but by no means bring any threats to the world," Liu said while addressing the opening ceremony of the fourth China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum.
He was referring to the "Chinese dream" that President Xi Jinping raised late last year.
Liu said the Chinese dream is by nature about prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation and happiness of its people.
"Now more than ever, we are closer to the goal of national revival," he said. "We have a saying in Chinese that a nobody tries to be himself, while a somebody has the entire world in his heart."
A well-developing China will become a guarantee for global development, he said.
"We would like to share the Chinese dream with the world, with Europe," he said, adding that Beijing wants to provide more positive energy to the global dream of lasting peace and common prosperity.
In that regard, the Communist Party of China is willing to deepen its ties with European political parties, he added.
Response praised
Earlier on Sunday, Liu met European representatives attending the forum. They expressed deep condolences for the victims of the magnitude-7 earthquake that struck Sichuan province on Saturday morning, killing at least 192 people and affecting about 1.5 million.
They spoke highly of the swift and efficient response from the Party and the central government to the quake.
The forum’s opening ceremony began with a moment of silence for the victims.
Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said on Monday evening at a banquet for the guests: "Each country has its own problems. As you know, we are suffering from a massive earthquake in Sichuan province. We are working hard to deal with the impact of this earthquake. And also, European countries are troubled by the European sovereign debt crisis.
"How to work together to overcome difficulties — this is the question in our mind, a question that we work together to settle.
"We should elaborate the role of political parties as flag bearers of ideas and thoughts to guide development of the China-Europe relationship."
He also said Liu Yunshan has attended the forum several times. "His personal attention to the forum shows the importance the CPC leadership attaches to the development of relations."
Martin Dulig, a member of the Federal Council of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, said at the opening ceremony he expects China to be more active in the global arena.
"We know the Chinese economy is developing very fast and it is getting stronger. That means it should take more obligations. That also explains why China is taking the role of a responsible major country on the international platform," he said.
Thierry Mariani, vice-president of the Union for a Popular Movement in France, said he has been involved in the forum since it was established in 2010 and seen the development of ties between China and Europe in the past three years despite the financial crisis.
To forge this partnership, the two sides must respect each other’s characteristics, and Europe should recognize the basic facts in China, he said.
The forum, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, focuses on promoting cooperation for new breakthroughs in Sino-European relations.
Leaders of 44 political parties from 27 European countries are taking part. One party group from the European Parliament and some European regional parties and think tanks are also attending.
The CPC is in contact with more than 600 political parties and organizations in more than 160 countries and regions.
