Egypt army ousts President Morsi

At least 10 people were killed and more than 500 injured on Wednesday in clashes between opponents and supporters of Mohamed Morsi, who has just been removed as Egypt's president by the military, a Health Ministry official told Xinhua.

"Four were killed in Marsa Matrouh and one in Alexandria, while 213 were injured in 12 governorates across the country," Health Ministry spokesman Yahya Moussa said, noting that injuries varied between gunshots, birdshots, wounds and fractures.
Moussa said there were no deaths in the capital Cairo, but nine were injured at Tahrir Square, one near the presidential palace in Heliopolis, two in Rabia al-Adawiya Square in Nasr City, and two near Cairo University in Giza.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Egyptian military ousted Islamist- oriented Morsi, and assigned the chief of the Supreme Constitutional Court to temporarily run the country until a new president is elected.
Despite the ouster, Morsi said he is still the legitimate president of Egypt. But he was considered to be speaking in a prerecorded statement, which was later broadcast by pan-Arab news channel Al Jazeera.
"There is no alternative for legitimacy, the constitution or the law," repeated Morsi, who, according to local sources, has been removed to an undisclosed location.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday expressed "deep concern" about the Egyptian military's decision to remove President Mohamed Morsi from power and suspend the constitution, calling on the army to move "quickly and responsibly" to return "full authority" to an elected civilian government.
