Top officials of 28 European Union members will hold a meeting next Monday to discuss the situation in Egypt, the EU said on Friday.
At least 500 people have been killed in clashes between security forces and Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Cairo and elsewhere, according to official figures.

European leaders have called for restraint and a return to meaningful dialogues to defuse the political stand-off, which began after Egypt's first elected President Mohamed Morsi was ousted in July.
European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has said she was monitoring the situation with great disquiet.
In November, the European Union pledged nearly 5 billin euros in loans and grants for 2012-13, plus potential loans through the European Investment Bank of up to 1 billion euros a year.
