The Chinese government says it is ready to dispatch a medical assistance team to disaster-hit areas in the Philippines.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Qin Gang.
"Apart from that, many non-government rescue teams affiliated with Chinese Red Cross are also ready. We are in contact with the Philippine side. The medical and rescue teams are able to leave for disaster areas immediately once we get permission and all conditions permit."
The first batch of Chinese aid has now arrived in the city of Cebu.
The relief materials include tents and blankets.
They're going to be dispatched to the city of Tacloban, which is the worst-hit city in the eastern Phlippines. On the ground, crews are restoring power in parts of Tacloban, 10-days after Super Typhoon ripped through the city.
"They have no supply, they have no ..., all totally damaged, so we retrieve the damaged pole for the use of the restoration of power.''
A tent city has been established in Tacloban to help shelter the thousands left homeless by the massive storm.
Forensic experts are also racing against time to identify bodies in a mass grave in Tacloban.
For more on the relief operations, CRI's Marc Cavigli spoke earlier with Soaade Messoudi, communications coordinator with the Red Cross in the Philippines.
