The Red Cross Society of China will provide humanitarian assistance worth 816.33 million U.S. dollars to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, the Chinese embassy here said Wednesday.

To help the local people relieve grievance caused by conflicts, through the Myanmar Red Cross Society, the Chinese Red Cross Society is preparing to provide 10,000 sets of humanitarian assistance boxes including rice, cooking oil and other emergency medicine and materials, it said.

According to the two organizations' provisional consensus, those materials are ready to be conveyed to Houqiao-Kambaiti checkpoint which is located on the China-Myanmar boundary in late February.

Both organizations are coordinating with each other on the specifics of the donation.

The Red Cross Society of China is planning to hold a handover ceremony in the checkpoint on Feb. 22 or 23 with its Myanmar counterpart.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government firmly supports the peace process and national reconciliation of Myanmar.

In the past two years, Chinese special envoy for Asian affairs attended several rounds of peace talks between the Myanmar government and the Kachin Independence Organization/Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) and played a positive role in promoting mutual trust and easing conflicts between the two sides.
