Iran aid ship leaves for Yemen

An Iranian aid ship disembarked from the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas Monday, heading for Yemen's way, Press TV reported.
The vessel, called Rescue Ship, contains 2,500 tons of food supplies and medicine donated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, according to the report.
The ship is headed to the Yemeni port of Hodeidah via the Sea of Oman, Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, local reports said Sunday.
Aboard the ship are 15 medical staff, 13 media representatives, seven anti-war activists from the United States, France and Germany plus the crew members, according to Tasnim news agency.
Iran said it has coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Authority of Saudi Arabia, Oman and Djibouti.
Iran's official IRNA news agency reported that the ship is scheduled to arrive at its destination in approximately 10 days.
Iran warned that it would not allow the Saudi-led coalition to intercept the ship.
Saudi Arabia has long accused Iran of arming and financing Houthi fighters, an accusation strongly rejected by Tehran.
Last month, Saudi-led coalition fighter jets intercepted an Iranian plane over the Yemeni sky, destroying the Sanaa airport runway, preventing the plane from landing.
Iran said the plane was carrying humanitarian aid to Yemen.
