The Dominican Republic will host an international meeting on April 14 on Haiti's recovery from the Jan. 12 devastating earthquake, Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso said on Thursday.
Morales made the announcement after meeting with Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez and Haitian Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive.
Morales said that the Dominican Republic will host the summit meeting as requested by Haitian President Rene Preval during an international meeting held on Jan. 18 in the country, which shares a Caribbean island with Haiti.
Among the attendants will be Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and heads of state or government from other countries, Morales said.
At a donors' meeting in the Canadian city of Montreal on Tuesday, the international community committed to provide aid for Haiti's recovery for at least 10 years "under the leadership of the government of Haiti, and with a key coordination role by the United Nations."
