The government of Burkina Faso said on Tuesday that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is not in the country.

Alain Traore, the communications minister of Burkina Faso said on state television that his country had not been informed of the arrival of Gaddafi.

The minister also said his country had not got a request for exile from the Libyan leader.

Traore said his country was not expect Gaddafi.

Rebel troops in Libya are continuing their manhunt for Gaddafi after they captured his stronghold in Tripoli on Aug. 23. His whereabouts are still unknown.

Meanwhile, there are reports saying that a convoy carrying Libyan senior members of Gaddafi's government has entered Niger. But it is widely believed that Gaddafi himself is not among those entering Niger.

Niger on Tuesday denied that a large number of Libyan vehicles has entered the country.

Niger's Interior Minister Abdou Labo said at a press briefing that there had not been hundreds of vehicles that entered into Niger.

The interior minister also said Gaddafi is not in Niger.
