"The 2013 Western China and Taiwan Economic Cooperation Symposium" was held in Chengdu on October 24, 2013. The event was organized by the Government of Sichuan Province and the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.
The symposium was one of the key events of the 14th Western China International Fair. In the past few years, Sichuan has organized four seminars on cooperation between the electronics industries in Western China and Taiwan, which have promoted economic exchange and cooperation between the regions.
Luo Huaijia, Deputy Secretary-General of the Taiwan Electronics Manufacturers' Association indicated that Chengdu had become one of Taiwan's most important investment locations. "Sichuan has carried out important industrial restructuring in recent years. The Tianfu New Area will bring Sichuan a lot of promising advantages in the future. We believe that Sichuan has a good future and that entrepreneurs from Taiwan should seize the first investment opportunity here."
The symposium was a large-scale Sichuan-Taiwan trade networking event. In addition to analyzing the expansion of regional exchange and cooperation in areas like electronic information, biotechnology and environmental protection, the forum also aimed to analyze Western China's new opportunities to implement a regional development strategy, to explore how to tap the potential of the western region, to promote the integration of industrial resources, and finally to achieve win-win development.
