A promotional meeting for the 15th Western China International Fair was held in Shanghai on June 13, 2014. The fair will be held from October 23 to November 3 in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. Many domestic and foreign enterprises in Shanghai want to get a slice of Western China's pie. "In recent years, we have kept an eye on our investments in Western China, and the fair provides us with a great chance," Chen Yangtai, Consul General of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai said at the promotional meeting.
More than 160 people attended the meeting, including consular officials from seven countries including Malaysia, the Philippines and Kazakhstan. Also in attendance were representatives from 48 associations at home and abroad like the United States CASIC, Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Colombia Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, as well as representatives from multinational corporations and the world's top 500 enterprises.
The 15th Western China International Fair, which has adopted "Reform leads Development and Innovation leads the Future" as its theme, will be held in two phases. The first phase gives priority to industries and investment promotion. The second phase emphasizes Western Chinese goods and trade cooperation.
It is estimated that over 60,000 guests and merchants will participate in the fair. So far, 624 domestic companies involved in manufacturing, the distribution industry and the wholesale and retail industry have confirmed they will attend the fair.
It was also revealed that the 10th China Food Fair will be held in Chengdu from September 19 to September 21, with an exhibition area of about 30,000 square meters and 1,500 booths which meet international standards.
