As the weather heats up, it's time to think about investing in a new range of T-shirts. This year, there are some particularly eye-catching prints, including a number of quirky cartoon designs. They may never appear on fashion runways, but "tees" can still have their own unique style: they are easy to match with other clothes and always comfortable during the unrelenting Shanghai summer. The Global Times went in search of some of the latest trendy designs.
Turning Japanese
This summer, retro-themed cartoon T-shirts are expected to be a big hit. The fast-fashion brand Uniqlo, through its T-shirt brand UT, has found success in its collaboration with contemporary artists, fashion designers, illustrators and even film and video companies.
For this season, Uniqlo is using the 1990s Japanese cartoon figure, Naruto Uzumaki, as part of its men's T-shirt range. Naruto, a powerful village ninja, was first created by Masashi Kishimoto for illustrations, before being transformed into an animated star in 2002.
