South Beijing will continue to improve its comprehensive transportation system, focusing on construction of four subway lines -- Line 7, Line 14, third phase of Line 8 and Line 16.

The western section of Line 14 will be put into operation on May 5, 2013, and serve the upcoming Ninth China (Beijing) International Garden Expo.

By the end of 2015, Beijing will have 13 subway lines serving residents in the area, with the total length of these subway lines mounting to 225 kilometers.
