On Sept. 13, reporters from China International Publishing Group (CIPG), together with other members of the domestic and international media, attended a briefing on the progress of the Yiwu International Trade Comprehensive Reform Pilot program. Initiated in March 2011, the program established Yiwu as a testing ground for some of the major reform and opening up measures launched by the State Council. Planning to revolutionize Yiwu’s commercial infrastructure and trading platform in the next three years, the pilot focuses on seven key aspects, including the development of Yiwu as a “special commerce zone” containing a “multi industry and multi-format integrated market,” all the while strengthening the city’s capacities as a “land port,” manufacturing base, and tourist destination.
