After China Eastern Airlines refused Air China's offer to buy into it, Air China reportedly began to seek cooperation with Shanghai Airlines. Air China and Shanghai Airlines confirmed the information with the Oriental Morning Post on March 25.
A senior manager with Shanghai Airlines told the newspaper that his company and Air China, both as members of Star Alliance, are keeping business cooperation separate from share trade so far. Air China's Secretary of the Board, Huang Bin, also said that the two airlines have many cooperation issues to discuss, but none of them relate to share trade.
