Gold price sharply lower in HK

Gold price in Hong Kong slumped 163 HK dollars to 8,045 HK dollars per tael on Friday on eve of the grand opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, according to the Bank of China (Hong Kong).

The price is equivalent to 865.56 US dollars a troy ounce, down 18.05 US dollars at Friday's exchange rate of one US dollar against 7.802 HK dollars.
