China shares open 0.85% higher

Chinese shares opened 0.85 percent higher on Friday, extending a 3.68 percent gain on Thursday and tracking the huge rally on Wall Street overnight.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, opened up 16.35 points, or 0.85 percent, at 1,943.96. The index had advanced more than 11 percent till Thursday, boosted by the 4 trillion yuan economic stimulus package unveiled on Sunday.

Investor sentiment got further boosted this week as more details of the stimulus package were unveiled, said analysts.

Overnight the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 552.59 points, or 6.67 percent, to 8,835.25.
