The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham-China) Friday announced three goals to strengthen Sino-U.S. economic ties to be met by 2039.
John Watkins, chairman of AmCham-China, said the goals each set at US$1 trillion a year were: U.S. exports to China; sales of U.S. companies in China; and investment of Chinese companies in the U.S..
The U.S. government welcomed the three goals, he said.
Bilateral trade was valued at US$333.7 billion in 2008, about 120 times that of 30 years ago..
The two nations mark 30 years of diplomatic ties this year.
AmCham-China is a non-profit organization that represents U.S. companies and individuals doing business in China.
The AmCham-China's membership comprises more than 2,700 individuals from over 1,200 companies.
