The China Economic and Social Council(CESC) would expand cooperation with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), a senior Chinese official said Thursday.
Wang Gang, president of the CESC and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks during a meeting with EESC president Mario Sepi.
Current China-EU relations were maintaining good development momentum. The cooperation had already brought about tangible benefits for both sides, he said.
Wang said the years since the CESC and the EESC forged ties have witnessed the continual development of friendly cooperation.
Both sides are expected to boost dialogues and cooperation to strengthen understanding and mutual trust between the people of China and the European Union (EU) and promote the growth of China and the EU's comprehensive and strategic partnership, Wang said.
He said he hoped people from all circles of the EU could learn about the Tibetan issue more objectively and comprehensively and make greater efforts to promote the friendship between China and the EU.
Sepi said the EESC would make its contribution to boosting and strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the EU and China.
The EESC, an institutional consultative body established by the 1957 Treaty of Rome, represents various economic and social components of European society.
