Three were killed, including two Korean tourists, after a bus carrying a tour group from the Republic of Korea collided with a heavy-duty truck Sunday in east China's Shandong Province.
Fifteen people injured in the accident, including 14 Korean tourists and one Chinese guide, were receiving treatment at a hospital in Rongcheng city, an official with the city government said on Sunday night.
The accident occurred at about 11 a.m. when the two vehicles crashed on a highway linking Weihai and Rongcheng. The bus driver died at the scene and the two Koreans died later at hospital.
Six of the injured people were still under close medical observation and the rest were in stable conditions, the official said.
The truck driver, named Zhang Fusheng, has been put under police custody pending further investigations.
Local authorities have dispatched eight interpreters to assist the injured tourists, and were contacting families of the victims in the ROK, the official said.
The bus belongs to the Qingdao branch of the China International Travel Service, China's largest tourist enterprise group.
