Eleven people died and six others were injured after a bus
overturned on a mountain road Tuesday afternoon in southwest
China's Chongqing Municipality, local traffic police
said.
The accident occurred at 1:15 PM in Yongchuan City when a
19-seat bus with 17 people on board turned over near a toll-gate
and plunged off 23 meters onto a lower section of the winding
mountain road that connects Dajiankou and Baofeng.
Ten people were killed on the spot. One of the seven injured
died in hospital, according to traffic police.
Local officials rushed to the site for rescue effort and the
accident is under investigation, police said.
