French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in London on Wednesday France and Britain need each other to face the world's challenges.

Addressing members of both houses of British parliament in London, Sarkozy said France and Britain "share the same basic values for humankind".

"We must make sure our ideas resound around the world," he added.

Sarkozy said destiny and fate of France and Britain intermingled for years and the two countries are "stronger nations side by side". He said France and Britain have "never been so close".
