Last positioned Monchengladbach stuns leader Dortmund

German Bundesliga's bottom team Monchengladbach shocked leader Dortmund Saturday thanks to the winner by striker Mohamadou Idrissou with a neat 1-0 victory.

Bayern striker Mario Gomez craved out a late equalizer against Frankfurt whereas Stuttgart staged a faultless performance against Hamburg owing a brace by striker Cacau.

Last positioned Monchengladbach jumped to 17th position with the surprising victory over leader Dortmund. Monchengladbach marked the winner through striker "Mo" Idrissou at the 35th minute against nonchalant Dortmund.

With the beginning of the second half, Dortmund took over but all efforts remained unrewarded as Monchengladbach defended deep and killed the clock.

Nonetheless, Dortmund stays on first position with 69 points and a five-point gap to chaser Leverkusen.

Bayern suffered a setback to reach their minimum aim, third position for a Champions League qualification, as they were held to an unspectacular 1-1 draw against Frankfurt.

Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode astonished the record champion Bayern when he hammered the lead from 16 meters at the 53rd minute. Bayern pressed frantically for the lead and was rewarded by referee Jochen Drees who pointed on the spot after a rude foul play by Martin Fenin inside penalty area.

Bundesliga top striker Mario Gomez stepped up to convert the ball successfully at the 89th minute to mark the equalizer. Thus Gomez firms his top position of the goal getter standings with 23 goals and a three-point gap to chasers.

Frankfurt stays on 15th position along 34 points while Bayern slipped to 4th position along 56 points and is in risk to lose their Champions League qualification.

Leader chaser Leverkusen suffered an early deficit but they were able to turn around within the 51st minute. Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson shocked the hosts with the opener at the 28th minute but Leverkusen defender Michal Kadlec equalized the score at the 39th minute by header after a corner.

Leverkusen turned up to take the lead at the 51st minute thanks to midfielder Arturo Vidal. Both sides remain on their positions, Leverkusen on 2nd and Hoffenheim on 9th.

Schalke suffered a loss against Kaiserslautern owing the winner by striker Srdjan Lakic who sealed the match at the 42nd minute as Schalke remained unable to turn things around. Kaiserslautern climbed to 12th position whereas Schalke stays on 10th position.

Stuttgart staged a faultless 3-0 performance against over challenged Hamburg. Striker Cacau smoothed the way at the 8th minute. Midfielder Christian Gentner doubled the lead at the 78th minute and Cacau made the game safe at the 88th minute to seal his brace against Hamburg, which staged a performance below average.

Stuttgart jumped to 13th while Hamburg stays on 7th position.

Bremen turned a 0-1 deficit to win 3-1 over promoted St. Pauli at the northern derby. Midfielder Fin Bartels opened the scoring for St. Pauli his team mate Markus Thorandt levelled the score for Bremen with an own goal at the 50th minute.

Bremen striker Claudio Pizzaro added another two goals within one minute to kill the game at the 74th minute. St. Pauli sits on 18th position, a relegation spot, while Bremen stays on 11th position.

Already on Thursday Hannover replaced Bayern from third position, a UEFA Champions League relegation spot, with a 3-1 win over Freiburg.

Wolfsburg hosts Cologne while Nuremberg meets Mainz on Sunday Bundesliga.
