Veteran goalkeeper Hans Joerg Butt, 36, extends his expiring contract until 2012 while youngster Thomas Kraft announced his leaving after the season, the club said on Tuesday.
"Joerg Butt is a first class goalkeeper. I am very happy that he stays another year at Bayern. This is done in addition on the request of our new coach Jupp Heynckes", Bayern CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge said.
Butt lost his staring position under former head coach Louis van Gaal who relied on youngster goalie Thomas Kraft, 22, from one day to another but since the dismissal of van Gaal goalie Butt slipped back into starting position.
Nonetheless, youngster goalie Kraft decided to leave the club after the season. "Thomas Kraft's understandable aim is to be number one but we cannot guarantee it", Bayern sport director Chirstian Nerlinger said.
Bayern sit on 3rd position in Bundesliga and are about to seal the minimum aim this season, the qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
