Daniel Didavi's brace was not enough for Stuttgart as Dortmund restored parity meanwhile Leverkusen reaped a neat win over Augsburg to close the fifth round of Bundesliga on Wednesday.
Borussia Dortmund fought back from a 2-0 deficit against Stuttgart within 13 minutes to secure one point on home soil. Juergen Klopp's men controlled the reins against Stuttgart, who defended deep to stage a well-positioned defence. Dortmund lacked in ideas to overcome the bulwark, allowing Stuttgart to focus on fast breaks.
Dortmund created the first dangerous chance through Shinji Kagawa, who rattled the bar with a lob at the half hour mark. However, Stuttgart's cut a better figure in front of Dortmund's goal area after the restart, as Daniel Didavi slotted home the opener following a failed clearance attempt in the 48th minute.
The visitors gained momentum with the surprising lead whereas Dortmund seemed cleary stunned. As a consequence Didavi was able to wrap up his brace in the 68th minute when he capitalized on a black out by Marcel Schmelzer.
Dortmund increased their offensive actions with the 2-0 deficit and their efforts were rewarded five minutes later as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich to reduce the arrears to 2-1.
The hosts were not done with the scoring because Ciro Immobile poked home a free kick inside the box to restore parity with four minutes left. The Italian international nearly grabbed the winner but Antonio Ruediger denied his late effort.
After overall three winless matches in row, Leverkusen recovered with a hard earned 1-0 win over Augsburg. Leverkusen's Heung Min Son scored the only goal of the match when he made use of a through ball by Roberto Hilbert in the 33rd minute.The third victory of the season lift the "Werkself" on second position of the Bundesliga standings.
Elsewhere, wasteful Monchengladbach beat struggling Hamburg 1-0, leaving the "HSV" at the Bundesliga bottom.
Hannover overpowered Cologne 1-0 as Joselu scored the first goal against the newly promoted side. Hannover retracted at the second half but Cologne failed to capitalise.
Berlin snatched the first win of the season as the "Old Lady" upset Wolfsburg 1-0 by courtesy of Salmon Kalou's first goal of his new side.
