Yangpu Ancient Salt Field is an archeological heritage site on Yangpu Peninsula, Hainan.

More than 1,200 years ago, a group of salt workers came from Putian, Fujian Province to Yangpu. The sun beat down oppressively here. Hence, they settled down and produced salt by exposing sea mud to the sun. Today, there are over thousands of stone salt tanks on the beach, used to evaporate seawater to produce salt. The 30 families of salt workers still utilize the traditional process to make salt in summer and autumn.
