Princess Diana of Wales, a member of the British royal family, was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, and they married on 29 July 1981. The wedding, held at St. Paul's Cathedral, was televised and watched by over 750 million people around the world. She became an international personality of the late 20th century.

From the mid-1980s, the Princess of Wales became increasingly associated with numerous charities. The couple has two sons: Princes William and Harry, currently second and third in line respectively to the thrones of the 16 Commonwealth realms.

Their marriage ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. She died in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997.

Lovely Princess Diana still figures high up on people's minds – she came in fourth, with 82 percent of the votes.
