The PLA University of Foreign Languages, based in Luoyang in central China's Henan Province, is a professional educational institution dedicated to foreign language skills training for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The university was renamed to PLA University of Foreign Languages in 1949, from its predecessor of a language school which was founded in 1938. It offers 29 foreign language majors, including English, Russian, Japanese and German, and nine other majors, including international studies, international relations and security, foreign militaries, and information research and security. More than 50,000 students have graduated from the university, including Xiong Guangkai, former PLA Deputy Chief of the General Staff, three academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and almost a hundred generals. The university has a teaching staff of more than 500, including more than 200 professors, associate professors and senior engineers.
解放军外国语学院坐落在中国中部省份河南省洛阳市，它作为一所专业教育机构，为中国人民解放军培养外语人才。学院在1949年正式更名为解放军外国语学院，其前身是１９３８年在延安成立的中央军委外文训练班。本科层次设有英、俄、日、德、法、西等29个语种的外语专业，以及国际信息、国际关系与安全、外国军事、信息研究与安全、科技外语以及对外汉语等9个复合型专业。迄今为止，已有5万多名学生毕业于解放军外国语学院，包括前解放军副总参谋长熊光楷、中国工程院的三名院士、以及近百名将军。中国人民解放军外国语学院师资力量雄厚。现有专职教师和教辅人员500余名，其中教授、副教授、高级工程师200余名，具有博士、硕士学位的占教师总数的82%。
