The Central China Economic Rim is made up of six provinces including Shanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and Anhui. It is focused on the following three urban clusters-the Central Plains Economic Belt in Henan, the Wuhan Economic Belt in Hubei and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Economic Belt in Hunan, which take up the mission of promoting the development of the six provinces and interacting with other economic rims. Covering an area of about 1 million square kilometers, this region is noted for its grain production and mineral resources. Its economic aggregate hit
about 8 trillion yuan in 2010.
Once lagging behind the eastern coastal areas, this region has witnessed rapid development since the Rise of Central China Plan was launched in 2004. The economic aggregate of Henan Province ranked fifth in China last year. As a geographical supernode linking various economic rims, the region's communication network is especially well-developed. It has drawn in huge investment from a great number of Taiwan enterprises.
