Lugu Lake

Lugu Lake is located in the center of Ningliang Yi Autonomous County in Yunnan Province. It is a picturesque and peaceful lake. There are many ethnic minority groups inhabited in the lakeside, such as the Mosuo, Yi, Norzu, Pumi and Tibetan. The most numerous of them are the Mosuo people, who are said to be a sub clan of the Naxi People.

Lugu Lake is regarded as the "mother lake" by the Mosuo People. In many Chinese travel pamphlets, it is also known as "The Kingdom of Women" and "Home of the Matriarchal Tribe", which highlight the dominant role of Mosuo women in their society. Visitors can go there and experience their unique culture and marriage customs.

Travel tips:

Admission fee: 80 yuan

Visitors have to transfer at Ningliang county to Lugu Lake.
