"To establish protection Station in the Hoh Xil and carry out protection work is the completed wish of Sonam Dargye", Yang Xin said. after its establishment, Sonam Dargye natural protection station became the first forefront base for the "wild yak team" to fight against poaching.

In the following days, "Green River" has systematically performed Tibetan antelope population survey, the distribution of waste and pollution survey and Yangtze River anthropological survey along the Qinghai-Tibet highway and railway, promoted environment protection along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, and helped local primary schools to establish environmental organizations.

In 2004, as the construction of Qinghai-Tibet Railway and Qinghai-Tibet highway affected the normal migration of Tibetan antelope, "Green River" carried out a fantastic project- to set up traffic lights for the Tibetan antelope.

"After two years of survey, we basically find out the time and path of Tibetan antelope’s migration. In June, we arrived there." Yang Xin said. But this "traffic light" was different from it of city streets, for it must be artificially controlled. Volunteers stood fast at their post and communicate through walkie talkie. When Tibetan antelopes were found in the front, the volunteer in the rear would be informed and he would light the red light to control traffic. They also opened a banner that read: Tibetan antelope are coming through the road, could you wait for a minute? Tibetan antelope wish you a safe journey home.

"We have no enforcement power, but we can use humane practices, and language. We also want to tell the driver, animals and human beings are equal. Traffic lights originally used to protect human, but we want to extend this protection to the animals."

Volunteers would send drivers symbols to wish peace, stickers of wildlife, and tell them if they encountered Tibetan antelopes later on, please wait for a moment.

Yang and his "Green River" played a pioneering role to protect the Tibetan antelopes. The administration of the Hoh Xil natural reserve continued their practices, patrolling and stop traffic in the seasons of Tibetan antelopes’ migration along Qinghai-Tibet Highway.

Yang had issued the second picture album, including thousand of pictures his took around Yangtze River in two decades. And the money would be used to build the second private run natural protection station. As for himself, Yang kept two thousand yuan for living every month.

When asked about his family, Yang said as he had chosen this path, he had to go on. Support or not, his family had to accept the fact.

To his relief, his son who was born in 1988, had ever been to the Hoh Xil, and become one of the most faithful volunteers of "Green River" and helped to manage the logistics in their team.
