The 12th-day House has a more "musical" vibe than other cafés screening films; the owner, Du Wenqing, is an indie folk/rock singer who regularly performs at venues such as Mao Livehouse and Yuyintang. As the vocalist for Runaway Snail and nicknamed Fanqie ("tomato" in Chinese), Du often invites his friends in the music circle to perform a folk/rock "chamber concert" in his cozy and homely lanehouse café.
The café is decorated with second-hand items that create a retro atmosphere for customers. Currently the café is also running a small exhibition of candy wrapping papers collected over the years by Du's friends. A child's drawing hangs at the entrance, which is gift from Du's music teacher, Da Qiao, who is well-known in folk music circles. The drawing is by Da Qian's 9-year-old niece, who he also performs alongside. The movie screenings happen at 7:30 pm every night except Wednesday. And tomorrow night a Japanese movie Patisserie Coin de rue will be screened there.
