5. Iceland's aurora illuminates the dark night
Spectral color lights completely inundate Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, with pale pink, red, green, yellow, blue, violet illuminating the sky. The aurora is formed by beam particle collisions in the atmosphere near the planet's poles. Auroras appear in the sky in wavy patterns or in the form of an arc.[Photo:jandan.net]
