A cold front will plunge temperatures and whip up sandstorms in some northern provinces over the next few days, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Friday. Temperatures will drop 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in eastern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the eastern part of northwestern China, central and eastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northeastern China. In some areas, the temperature may even plunge 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, the NMC said. The cold front will bring sand-dust weather and even sandstorms to South Xinjiang Basin, northern Qinghai, western Gansu, central and western Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northern parts of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Experts with the NMC said more than 80 percent of all sandstorms in China take place from March to May. |
