The eastern stretch of Helan Mountain, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, won the award of top region for producing wines during the 2012 China Wine Awards held by the Chinese edition of French wine magazine Revue du Vin de France in early April in Beijing.

A total of 97 Chinese wines, produced with grapes planted in China or made in China, took a blind tasting by a panel of 9 wine experts from France, Britain, Canada and China, including Olivier Poels, deputy chief editor of RVF.
It was the first time that China held such a blind tasting of Chinese wines by a panel of global experts according to international standards.
