Yongning County in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region began construction on its “World Muslim City” project on August 5.

With a total investment of 23 billion yuan (US$3.6 billion) by the Ningxia World Muslim City Co., Ltd., the project will feature a Sino-Arab Friendship Square, Conference Center, World Islamic Culture Museum, International Sports Park, and twenty other subprojects. Planned to be finished by 2020, the integrated tourist destination will highlight Hui Muslim culture and will combine food, trade, art, entertainment and leisure with distinctive architecture.
