Wang Zhengwei, the chairman of People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region as well as a delegate to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, advocated the building of a harmonious and prosperous new Ningxia before attending the crucial meeting in Beijing.

Being the only provincial-level ethnic Hui region in China, Ningxia is a magical and holy place, said Wang. The region is a granary province and possesses a huge amount of natural resources. He added that its coal chemical industry has been making full use of its rich coal reserves. With a long history and vibrant culture, the region boasts beautiful natural sceneries and abundant cultural tourist attractions. He stated Ningxia truly is a good place for tourism and the industry there has blossomed over the past several years.

He stressed the successes the annual China-Arab Economic and Trade Forum have achieved over the past three years. A total of 478 project contracts were signed during the forums and the investment volume totaled at 250 billion yuan (US$ 40.14 billion). Several infrastructure projects have started construction and many enterprises have chosen to locate their bases in Ningxia, according to Wang. He added that the image of Ningxia was also greatly improved through the extensive coverage of the forum by both the domestic as well as foreign media.

The recent approval of the establishment of a new Ningxia economic inland pilot zone and a comprehensive bonded area in Yinchuan will strategically build up bridges linking China and Arabian States, Wang Zhengwei said. He pointed out that the construction of the two zones will facilitate Ningxia’s globalization process and its exploration of new markets in emerging countries. At the same time, the mode of economic development will also be changed. Ningxia aims to become a charming tourism destination and a state-level energy chemical base, he said. He also expressed his best wishes to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and believed that magnificent national development strategies will be put forward during the meeting.
