Liu Hui, the chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, met with Leung Chun-Ying, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, June 14 in Hong Kong to discuss the Ningxia’s trade, culture and tourism.
Economic development in Ningxia has the potential to benefit Hong Kong as well, Liu said at the meeting. While Hong Kong has funds, talent and market channels, Ningxia possesses resources, industries and platforms. She added that communication and cooperation between the two regions has increased greatly in recent years.
Liu emphasized that opportunity abounds in Ningxia, citing the construction of the Ningxia Inland Opening-up Pilot Zone and Yinchuan Bonded Area as evidence. She also noted that the China-Arab States Expo is held annually in Ningxia. Liu said she and the rest of the Ningxia delegation hope to build closer ties to Hong Kong in relation to information, finance, tourism, logistics, exhibition and agricultural products.
Leung Chun-Ying and other officials welcomed the Ningxia delegation and said that Hong Kong, too, seeks further economic cooperation with Ningxia.
