The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is accelerating its opening-up process through the construction of various platforms, according to deputies from Ningxia during the ongoing second session of the 12th National People’s Congress.

On March 5, Ma Li, an NPC deputy, said that the opening-up process forms the prerequisite for building an open, prosperous, harmonious and beautiful Ningxia.

“The city of Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia, should accelerate the construction of Binhe New Area, the Comprehensive Bonded Area, Yuehai Bay CBD and the Hedong Airport to build international opening-up platforms and broaden cooperation channels,” he added.

He stressed that the opportunity of building a cross-border e-commerce pilot city could promote the development of leading industries such as textile, beef and mutton processing, wine, aviation and e-commerce and at the same time the functions of Yinchuan Bonded Area could be enhanced.

Zhang Bawu, an NPC deputy from Guyuan City, pointed out that Guyuan has formed competitive edges in terms of resources, ecology and tourism sources. The vegetables produced in Guyuan are currently popular in Hong Kong, Russia and many other places, he said.

Zhang Bawu, an NPC deputy, stressed that the general 2014 plans mentioned in the Government Work Report will provide policy support for the development in Ningxia.

“Being the first Inland Opening-up Pilot Economic Zone, Ningxia receives policy support in financing, taxation, land, etc., and also is attractive for industrial investment funds,” he concluded.
