The sixth China Ningxia Horticulture Expo will kick off in the city of Guyuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, on July 25.
To be themed “Green, Scientific and Healthy”, the two-day expo will include exhibitions, sales, project signings and industrial inspections, said Yang Wen, vice mayor of Guyuan. Over the past few years, the city has accelerated the development of vegetables growing in areas of cold climate, including hot peppers, celery and carrots, with the total planting area surpassing 38,666 hectares. The annual output totaled 2 million tons and 70 percent of the vegetables were sold in large cities in China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The expo is expected to improve vegetable quality, promote cooperation and enhance the influence of Ningxia’s horticulture industry, said Jin Wanhong, the vice director of Ningxia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department.
