Huoshizhai, the township in Xiji county of Ningxia with Danxia landform, welcomed its first snowflakes on October 11th.

The mountains were in silver dresses and the white birch turned golden. The colorful Danxia landform made Huoshizhai a fairy tale world, in which people would be intoxicated.

The Huoshizhai Geopark is in Huoshizhai township, whose planning area is 9,795 hectares. It is the Danxia landform with highest altitude in China, which is called "Colorado of China".

As the color of the mountains is dark red, it just like flames especially under the coverage of green trees, that's where its name Huoshi (means fire-stones in Chinese) comes from.

The continously distributed 'Danxia' landform, with Danya and Danfeng landforms formed by completely vertical joint of stratum, steep and columnar mountain, are very unique in Loess Plateau region.
